“Getting my mind on my work seems to be the hardest task in the world. I can't seem to focus on my school work because I've got my family heavy on my mind. It seems like ever since I came here, things back home have worsened. My grandmother got sick before I came here, and now I'm realizing that she's really old. God blessed her to live to be 85. She is a strong woman, but then suddenly, she got ill. She was never a woman of 85 until now. She looks different and acts different. I don't think anyone knows how much it hurts to have someone you love so much look at you and not recognize you. It hurts a lot. More than words can say. I hope to God that she lives long enough to see me complete College. That's all I ask.”
